Chandon raises a toast to India’s premiere film gathering at the mid-festival soirée of the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival 2017
MUMBAI, 15th OCTOBER 2017:
Sunday evening saw the city’s film fraternity arrive at an elegant soirée, hosted by Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival, HFPA (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) and Institut Francais in association with Chandon India. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai; the starry event attracted a line-up of guests such as Kiran Rao, Anupama Chopra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ayan Mukherjee, Anurag Kashyap, Kabir Khan, Mini Mathur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Sayani Gupta amongst others.
The party showcased Chandon’s new Bollywood connection – limited edition bottles designed by ace couturier, Manish Malhotra. In a first for both brands, Malhotra has designed two different bottles for Chandon Brut, just in time for the festive season. The association is a fitting one. Along with his eponymous, 12-year-old couture label, Malhotra has been a true game-changer when it came to redefining Bollywood’s vision of fashion, with his iconic legacy of cult Hindi film costumes across generations.
Sophia Sinha, Senior Marketing Manager, Chandon India adds, “After a fabulous association last year, Chandon India is in its second innings with MAMI 2017, a prestigious calendar event that everyone looks forward to. This year, we bring a refreshing, new perspective to our Party Starter, with Manish Malhotra’s glamorous designs on our limited-edition festive bottles. The couturier’s costumes have been popularised on the big screen for over 27 years, and at Chandon, we raise a toast to this milestone and path-breaking cinema.”
In the late 1950s, Moët &Chandon, the world’s leading Champagne House since 1743, began exploring the potential for producing world-class sparkling wines outside of the Champagne region, under the ‘Chandon’ name. The first Chandon Estate was created in 1959 in Argentina followed by California (1973), Brazil (1973) Australia (1986) and China (2013). Following in the pioneering steps of the founders and continuing its search for new winemaking territories, Moët Hennessy determined that the Nashik region had the potential to produce world-class, premium quality sparkling wine. Chandon is the first offering from Moët Hennessy to be made in India. Combining centuries-old winemaking practices with the finest local grapes, Chandon is available in two variants: Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rosé. In May 2017, Chandon launched Délice. Presenting a sweeter, flavourful taste-profile, Délice can be enjoyed straight up (chilled), on the rocks or with a slice of fruit (recommended a slice of orange). In 2015 the Chandon India winery was awarded an ISO 22000:2005 Certificate of Compliance for their Food Safety Management System – receiving of grapes from vineyards, storage, manufacturing and bottling of sparkling wine-Category E.
